Terrazzo flooring originated in ancient Egypt and was perfected by the Venetians during the 16th Century. It is a composite material made of marble, quartz, glass, and granite chips mixed with cement. In the 1930s, it regained popularity in American Art Deco buildings for its decorative appeal and durability.
